Final Outcome Process:

Heavily inspired by the mask I made in the Sound and Lens workshop I decided to take the mask idea further. I found the below image on instagram and wanted to try making a mask out of tights. I was also inspired by Taja Spasskova's work from lockdown - recycling house hold items to make outfits and items for self-portraits as well as looking at Amanda Lepore and how she owns and celebrates her sensuality. This all inspired me to do a self portrait shoot with me wearing a bondage inspired outfit made out of old pairs of tights as well as wearing hyper feminine/glam makeup but smudging it - all in an attempt to explore how women's sensuality and our bodies are very often frowned upon and shamed and I wanted to distort how the female body is portrayed in the media and show it outside of the male gaze.
